Electrology Licensing Program for Idaho

If you're interested in becoming an electrologist in Idaho, the "Gem State" is what we refer to as a licensed state, which means it regulates the practice of electrology through licensing. The state of Idaho requires that electrology students complete at least 500 hours of training before being allowed to sit for the state electrology licensing exam. However, in contrast to other states Idaho also requires certain hours of skin care training or apprenticeship hours. Due to the fact that Idaho requires 500 hours of electrology training, the Directors of AIE have customized their Idaho program based upon the California 600 hour curriculum. Past Idaho graduates have found that as a result of these higher standards of training, taking the Idaho licensing exam was easy. Your program is delivered in two modules. The theory part of the training can be completed online while the hands-on practical training is done in-school at our campus in California. Theory and practical training modules may be taken separately or together.

Just like all the other AIE electrology programs, your 500 hour program is offered on an open-enrollment basis, so you may start any day you wish and you can complete your training on a flexible schedule. You may complete your training in as little as 4 months or take as long as 24 months. The flexibility of our programs makes the choice all yours! As an AIE graduate, after passing the state exam you'll have the credibility that automatically comes with the professional designation, "Licensed Electrologist."

GENERAL THEORY

A) INTRODUCTION TO ELECTROLOGY

• This includes 1) the history of electrology, 2) current methods of permanent and temporary hair removal.

B) BASIC SCIENCE

• A specific study of the following as these areas pertains to electrology;
1. Anatomy and physiology
2. Cytology
3. Histology
4. Survey of body systems: nervous, endocrine, lymphatic, cardiovascular, digestive, respiratory, excretory, reproductive, skeletal, muscular, and integumentary
5. Dermatology: normal integument, diseases of the skin
6. Hair: structure and function, growth cycles, regrowth
7. Hypertrichosis, hirsutism: causes, evaluation, treatment
8. Contraindications to electrology
9. Microbiology: a study of microorganisms, personal hygiene, hand washing, sanitation, antisepsis, disinfection, sterilization, aseptic techniques
10. Immunology
11. Basic electricity
12. Modalities of electrology: electrolysis, single needle method and multiple needle method, thermolysis, manual and automatic method, and the blend method
13. Electrology techniques and variables, a) techniques, b) variables, probes, intensity, timing, depth of insertion
• Operation, care, maintenance of equipment and instruments.

1. Psychology as related to unwanted hair

Tuition Information

Tuition Includes: All training, the program text book, all study guides and all tests taken in the school, all disposable supplies and a supply kit that allows you to work in the school clinic. Students graduate with a certificate of completion and a proof of training certificate that allows them to sit for the State Board licensing exam.
